For a radial shaft seal to perform efficiently the condition of the shaft seating is of vital importance.
Preferably the surface should be hardened and ground without directionality. High pressures, temperatures
and speeds, inadequate lubrication and solid contaminants all have a negative influence on sealing performance
and also lead to grooving on the shaft. In such cases a simple seal replacement will not solve the problem,
and it is generally necessary to rework the shaft. Such reworking is time-consuming and costly.
CR wear sleeves have been designed to eliminate the need for reworking. They are simply pushed over the
damaged surface enabling the shaft to be re-used within minutes – and at a fraction of the cost of traditional reworking.
